![]() Their winged design is not for everyone and, yet, its looks seem to get everyone’s attention.īut like everything else that doesn’t follow standards, the Thunderbird basses are both superb and unpopular. Part of the reason is how these bases are eccentric. THose places mostly belong to Fender and Squier. Interestingly, though, you don’t see many Gibson or Epiphone Thunderbird basses flying around rock stages, performing at music videos, or sitting quietly at home studios. However, you have probably never played one. I bet everyone who reads this has seen or heard about the Thunderbird bass. This baby is made for rock like no other. This is where the humbucker-fueled Thunderbird comes into play. Sometimes, though, you need a noiseless, powerful, punchy, and crunchy bass guitar with a body big enough to scare your audience. They are more than enough for most situations, which is why they are somehow silencing the Epiphone Thunderbird Reverse IV bass. If you’re lucky enough to own Fender or Squier basses, you’ll know how those are smooth, pristine, and timeless. It takes the best features of the original Gibson bass and translates it into an affordable instrument. The Epiphone Thunderbird Reverse IV Bass is amazing. Epiphone Thunderbird Reverse IV Electric Bass Guitar In-depth Review (4 and 5 strings) There’s something that has consistently improved over time, though: the pickups, the electronics, and the price. Vintage and modern Thunderbird basses have remained the same over the years: winged body, dual-coil humbucker pickups, and the Thunderbird insignia on the pickguard. You can only understand that once you try it, and that’s what musicians love (and dislike) so much about this bass. No other bass looks like it, and because of its body shape, no other bass feels like it. Its design hasn’t changed in a bit, and it still looks as unique and different as it did once before. Over 60 years later, it has stood the test of time. Gibson debuted the Thunderbird in the early ‘60s, and it looked like the bass of the future. The Epiphone Thunderbird is built to the highest Gibson standards. ![]() We’re reviewing the Reverse version because it’s the most available of the series, although there are more alternatives like the Pro version.Ĭan you already see how this is such a special bass? That brings us to the Epiphone Thunderbird Reverse bass, an affordable version of the Gibson Thunderbird built to the same specs, standards, electronics, and even pickups. The rest of the guitar’s features (like tonewoods, body shape, colors, finish, etc), are not going to affect the sound as much as the pickups itself. Their best models are mostly using Gibson pickups, hardware, and electronics. That means a budget Epiphone instrument can be just as good as a Gibson instrument. That’s something I already discussed in my Squier Classic Vibe series review. More so, the quality gap between budget and high-end instruments is getting thinner by the moment. And because I said that, I can now name the two Gibson series that are so special they practically don’t need to sell anything else: the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar and the Gibson Thunderbird bass guitars.Įpiphone can be just as good as their parent company…I mean, if Gibson were to sell instruments for honest prices, Epiphone is what you would get. In fact, Gibson doesn’t build much variety in terms of musical gear…what they do build, they do it perfectly. ![]() In addition, we've compiled a list of questions you may have.Īlthough we've done our best to provide you with our ideas and recommendations, you should still conduct your own research before making a purchase of any best mini crossbow. Īnd using it is as simple as referencing it in your element presentation or inline attributes or styling attribute. The usage is done by embedding glyph information into SVG when rendered. Initially, SVG fonts were designed to solve that by providing a means to describe a font to be used in SVG. When the SVG standard was first devised, web fonts usage was not easily accessible among browsers causing typography issues. Since you dont edit SVG icons on a regular basis, you prefer to use an online SVG editor instead of installing an app like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape on. There are currently 3 different ways to use fonts in SVG. So how can we ensure our fonts are rendered reliably on any browsers and what are the ways to achieve it? And how to start bullet-proofing our SVG typography? We all know this best, the facepalm moments when having our fancily designed fonts in our SVG graphics appearing up as Times New Roman on the browser. However I understand that's not what Rodriguez and crew set out to do with this movie - they just wanted to make an entertaining cult popcorn blockbuster flick. The second half could be replaced with a more serious half and I think it would probably be one of the best thrillers ever if this was done. Like Rodriguez' DESPERADO, it's a guilty pleasure for viewers and cast - a bunch of highly esteemed actors get together and have a blast. And in that regard this is a pretty fun movie. However due to the fact that he provided Rodriguez with the script and even performed a commentary track on the film's DVD release (something he does on none of his own directed films) just goes to show that Tarantino wasn't in it for the praise - he was in it for the fun and experience. George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Tarantino - not a bad cast! Had this been presented as an epic crime movie Tarantino would have helmed it. It's like a bunch of friends got together and decided to make a movie - albeit friends with fairly good reputations as filmmakers. Tarantino's script is just the baseline for it all. Rodriguez set out to make an homage to the spaghetti western/Evil Dead genre and did so. (Albeit fun ones.) Some have complained that the transformation from seriousness to sudden vampire comic book content is too fast and the story would have been far more interesting had it been rooted in realism for its entire duration. I find it awe inspiring to watch Topaz processing a video, showing the input and output videos in one window, with the left pane looking so so. Or else the overcompression will make moot your efforts (beginners may not realize this). It should be noted that the final video needs to have a bitrate appropriate to the quality level. If I get really brave, I'll seed on Dime (they have a bazillion rules including no reencoding no matter what (quite arbitrary don't you think?), which I would be violating.). The ultimate test will be to seed them at 1080p, but not tell anyone Topaz was used, and see if anyone posts wondering where the release came from. I have noticed that the 1280x720 video must be a relatively high bitrate for the 1920x1080p to look good. The answer is yes it can add 150 to 200 percent more detail than existed previously. My second interest is to make better versions of DVD content that will not see a Bluray or web stream release. I wanted to see if Topaz could add detail to the overcompressed videos. No longer were videos of adequate bitrate. Around 2016, Youtube cut the bitrate to 1/3rd to 1/4th what it had in 20. I was first interested in Topaz to see if it could fix the low bitrate problem Youtube has. It would be nice to have a basic understanding of the magic I'm seeing. I'll have to read up about them when I have some time. Now why am I one of the few using this software? It always thinks it's interlaced, even when it's progressive. After about 20 tests, I can say that is false. I had a theory that setting Topaz to upscale higher than the final resolution (later downscaled) might produce better results. That's max sharpen, max restore detail, 30% reduce noise and looks awesome! I'm going to set it to do the full gig with these settings, about 90 minutes of video. I just took at look at the lastest test- a noisy but detailed 1280x720p 50FPS video converted to 1920x1080p 50FPS with no noise and even more detail. I'm currently testing it on some live concert video, proshot and high bitrate 1280x720p, that I think I can get to 1920x1080p around 27Mbps with added visible detail without anyone knowing it was originally released as 720p. I don't think I can post a link here (without getting banned). If you search hard enough, you'll find the movie. Like the DS9 article, I also saw the best results with the Gaia-CG model. Still, the increase in detail is impressive. The final version is an honest 1116x576p. tiff images and fixed 949 frames with Photoshop.
